Vintage Original Barbie ROMAN HOLIDAY #968 Coat & Dress Cruise Stripes 1959

Description

Rare "Roman Holiday" coat and sheath dress (Cruise Stripes) from 1959.  The coat is missing the TM tag and the red lining, but this is the original coat.  This is the dress that I found next to the coat.  The dress does actually have a tag inside.  It is frayed, but it looks like a TM tag.  I have read somewhere hat the dress that came with the "Roman Holiday" coat had no tag, while the dress that was sold separately as "Cruise Stripes" did have a tag.  So I am not totally sure this is the dress is the same one that was originally sold with the coat, but I did find them together, and their colors match exactly.
There are some issues to note.  First, I have replaced most of the gold buttons (beads) on the coat, which were falling off or damaged when I found them.  They had lost all their luster.  I used vintage gold Barbie buttons from another vintage outfit, and they were exactly the same as the original buttons I found on the coat.   I hesitated to put on new buttons, but I am good with a needle and thread, since I've done a lot of crafts, and the replaced buttons look exactly the same as the original ones.  I just wanted to disclose that most of these are replaced.

There are two faint greenish spots on the inside of the coat, as shown in photos 8 and 9.  But these do not show on the outside of the coat (see the next photos 10 and 11).  This fabric is thick, and apparently the stains affected only the inside of the coat.  I have not tried to remove these stains -- I will leave that up to the new owner.
Also -- there is some light yellowing around the outside of the collar and upper sleeves of the coat.  This does not show up in these photos, and it's not very noticeable, but I wanted to point it out.  The whites on the rest of the coat and the dress are fairly white, although not snow white.
I am not sure whether these are the original cuffs on the coat.  The sleeves seem to be the original length, so i don't think anything has been shortened, but without another coat to compare this with, I can't tell for sure.  The inside edge fabric is frayed.
In general the dress is in good condition, but the fabric of the skirt is slightly faded and worn.  There are some slight creases close to the bottom, and some rub marks.  The YKK zipper is shiny, secure and working very well.  There are no holes or tears anywhere.
